Wedding Venues on Vancouver Island
One of the best parts about planning a wedding on Vancouver Island is just how many different settings there are to choose from. You can get married among the formal gardens of a historic estate near Victoria, surrounded by apple trees on the Saanich Peninsula, overlooking the mountains, or with your feet in the sand on either coast of the Island. The harder part is narrowing it down.
Before getting too caught up in photos, think about what you want the whole weekend to feel like. Do you picture something formal or more relaxed? Are most of your guests local, or will people be travelling to Vancouver Island? Do you want everyone together for just the wedding, or would you rather turn it into a weekend away?
To help you compare, we’ve rounded up several very different Vancouver Island wedding venues, including what makes each one unique and some of the practical details worth considering.

What should you compare between Vancouver Island wedding venues?
The setting is important, but some of the less exciting details can make just as much difference once your wedding weekend arrives.Start with your guest list. An intimate venue that feels perfect for 30 people may not work for 100, while a large event space can feel very different with a smaller group.
Next, ask about the rain plan. Vancouver Island is beautiful, but an outdoor wedding here always comes with the possibility of changing weather. Find out exactly where your ceremony would move if it rains and, if possible, see the backup space when you tour the venue.
Guest accommodation is another big consideration, especially if people are travelling from elsewhere in BC or Canada. If everyone has to find separate hotels and transportation after the reception, that becomes another piece of the weekend to organize. A venue with accommodation on-site can make things considerably easier.
It’s also worth looking beyond the wedding itself. If people are travelling all this way, what can they do the day before or the morning after? Some venues lend themselves naturally to a full weekend away.
Historic castle and garden weddings near Victoria
For couples drawn to historic architecture and formal gardens, Hatley Park at Royal Roads University offers one of Vancouver Island’s most recognizable wedding settings.Hatley Castle is an Edwardian estate in Colwood surrounded by formal gardens, with views toward the Strait of Juan de Fuca. Couples can choose from garden ceremonies, castle receptions and larger packages using additional event spaces.
Depending on the package and setup, Hatley publishes wedding capacities reaching up to 250 guests, making it one of the larger options on this list.
It’s a particularly good one to explore if the architecture and gardens are going to play a big part in how you picture your wedding day.
Orchard weddings on the Saanich Peninsula
For something a little more relaxed, Sea Cider Farm & Ciderhouse offers a completely different setting on the Saanich Peninsula.Sea Cider hosts weddings ranging from intimate celebrations of two people to events with as many as 120 guests. A typical wedding can move through several parts of the property, including the Forest Stumpery for the ceremony, the Orchard Patio overlooking the orchard and Salish Sea for cocktails, and the Farmhouse Pavilion for the reception.
And, as you might expect at a working cidery, their own cider can be part of the celebration.
One practical detail to know is that Sea Cider currently has weddings wrap up by 10 p.m. unless extended hours are added to the package. If a late-night reception is important to you, that’s something to discuss before booking.
Mountain and ocean views on the Malahat
Perched above Saanich Inlet, Villa Eyrie Resort combines mountain scenery with sweeping views of the water below. The resort currently advertises wedding packages for up to 60 guests, with ceremony and reception spaces as well as guest accommodation included in its wedding offerings.
That makes it particularly well suited to couples looking for a smaller destination-style celebration where everyone can settle in and spend more of the weekend together.
It’s also a good example of why starting your venue search early can be worthwhile. As of September 2026, Villa Eyrie reports that its July through September 2027 weekend wedding dates are already fully booked, although weekday and other seasonal dates remain available.
Alpine weddings in the Comox Valley
If you’ve always pictured getting married in the mountains, Mount Washington Alpine Resort offers ceremonies and receptions surrounded by alpine scenery, old-growth forest and views toward the Salish Sea and Coast Mountains. There are both lodge venues and outdoor ceremony locations, and guests can find slopeside accommodation nearby, making it possible to turn the celebration into a full mountain weekend.
It doesn’t have to be a summer wedding either. Mount Washington offers seasonal wedding options throughout the year, so couples looking for snowy winter scenery can consider it too.
For guests staying longer, the mountain setting also opens up plenty of possibilities for making a weekend of it, with seasonal activities available around the resort.
West Coast beach weddings in Tofino
For couples dreaming about the wild side of Vancouver Island, Long Beach Lodge Resort sits directly on Cox Bay in Tofino. This side of the Island is all about the scenery: wide beaches, rainforest, driftwood and the open Pacific.
Long Beach Lodge focuses on intimate weddings and currently accommodates celebrations of up to 30 guests. Accommodation is available at the resort, and the property hosts only one scheduled wedding per day.
The biggest consideration is getting everyone there. Tofino is a destination in itself, so if your guests are arriving through Nanaimo or Victoria, they’ll have another stretch of travel ahead of them. For couples who have always pictured getting married against that dramatic West Coast backdrop, though, the journey can become part of the weekend.
A beachfront wedding weekend in Parksville
And then, of course, there’s our little corner of Vancouver Island.Beach Acres Resort sits on 23 acres of mature cedar, fir and arbutus trees, right beside Rathtrevor Beach in Parksville. It’s a setting that feels naturally relaxed, with the beach in one direction and forest in the other.
What makes getting married at Beach Acres a little different is that you don’t have to say goodbye to everyone once the reception is over.
Your family and friends can stay right here at the resort, with beachfront cottages, oceanview and partial oceanview accommodations, and private forest cottages spread throughout the property. Most accommodations have two bedrooms, fully equipped kitchens, fireplaces and private outdoor space, so everyone gets a little more room to settle in than they would in a traditional hotel room.
That means your wedding can become a whole weekend together.
People can arrive the day before, wander down to the beach, meet for dinner and actually have time to catch up before the wedding begins. The Black Goose Inn is right on the resort grounds for an easy dinner or drink, and between wedding events guests can head to the beach or make use of the pool, hot tub, sauna, tennis courts and other resort amenities.
For us, that’s one of the nicest parts of hosting weddings here. Instead of everyone arriving for a few hours and heading their separate ways afterward, you get more time with the people who travelled to celebrate with you. What is Rathtrevor Beach like for a wedding?
Rathtrevor is a little different from the open-ocean beaches you’ll find on Vancouver Island’s west coast. The ocean can recede almost a kilometre at low tide, revealing a huge stretch of flat sand. The beach within Rathtrevor Beach Provincial Park stretches for approximately two kilometres and is backed by mature forest.
The changing tide gives the beach a completely different look throughout the day. At low tide, you get an enormous expanse of sand and shoreline. As the tide comes back in, the water moves across sand that has been warming in the sun.
For wedding photos, it’s worth checking the tide schedule alongside your ceremony time so you know what the beach is likely to look like when you head down.
Where should your wedding guests stay?
It’s easy to leave accommodation until later in the planning process, but it’s worth thinking about while you’re comparing venues. If your ceremony and reception venue doesn’t offer accommodation, find out what’s nearby and how your guests will get back and forth. Depending on your group, you may need to arrange hotel blocks, taxis, shuttles or designated drivers.
For a destination wedding, keeping everyone in one place can change the feel of the weekend completely.
At Beach Acres, guests can walk back to their cottage or townhouse after the evening is over. The next morning, everyone is still nearby, whether you’re planning a brunch, heading down to the beach or simply meeting for coffee before people start making their way home.
That extra time together often becomes part of the celebration rather than just the logistics around it.
Getting to a Vancouver Island wedding
If you have guests coming from the mainland or farther away, think about where they’ll arrive on Vancouver Island before choosing your venue.Victoria International Airport and the Swartz Bay ferry terminal make southern Vancouver Island convenient for weddings around Victoria and the Saanich Peninsula. Nanaimo has ferry connections at Departure Bay and Duke Point, along with air connections, making central Island venues convenient for guests arriving from the Lower Mainland.
Parksville is on the east coast of central Vancouver Island, north of Nanaimo. For a group arriving through Nanaimo, that makes it relatively easy to get everyone settled at the resort without adding a long cross-Island drive.
Tofino requires more travel after arriving on Vancouver Island. Tourism Tofino currently estimates the drive at just under three hours from Nanaimo’s Departure Bay terminal and about four hours and twenty minutes from downtown Victoria.
There’s no right location for every wedding. It really comes down to how much travel you want to ask of your guests and whether the journey is part of the destination experience you have in mind.
Questions to ask before booking a Vancouver Island wedding venue
Once you have a shortlist, asking the same questions at each venue makes comparing them much easier.- What is the maximum capacity for both the ceremony and reception?
- What happens if it rains during an outdoor ceremony?
- Can guests stay on the property?
- If not, what accommodation is available nearby?
- Are there minimum-stay requirements for on-site accommodation?
- What time does the reception need to end?
- Are tables, chairs, linens or AV equipment included?
- Is catering provided, restricted to preferred vendors or arranged separately?
- Will another wedding or event take place at the property on the same day?
- Is there space for a rehearsal dinner or gathering the following morning?
- How far is the venue from the nearest airport or ferry terminal?
- What transportation options are available for guests who don’t want to drive?
When should you book a Vancouver Island wedding venue?
If you have your heart set on a particular summer Saturday, start contacting venues early. There isn’t one booking timeline that applies to every Vancouver Island wedding venue. Availability depends on the property, season, size of your wedding and how flexible you are about the day of the week.
Some popular venues book summer weekends more than a year ahead. Villa Eyrie, for example, currently reports that its July through September 2027 weekend weddings are already fully booked as of September 2026.
Spring, fall and weekday celebrations can give you more options, and they’re worth considering if your priority is bringing everyone together rather than having a particular Saturday in July or August.
Whatever season you choose, ask about both accommodation availability and the venue itself. If everyone is staying together, you’ll want to make sure there’s enough room for your group before locking in the date.
Common questions about Vancouver Island wedding venues
What are some wedding venues on Vancouver Island with accommodation?
Several Vancouver Island wedding venues allow guests to stay on or near the property. Beach Acres Resort has cottages and townhouses throughout its Parksville property, Long Beach Lodge has resort accommodation in Tofino, and Villa Eyrie offers guest accommodation as part of its wedding packages. Mount Washington also has slopeside accommodation available around the resort. If having everyone together matters to you, ask not only whether accommodation exists, but how many guests can realistically stay there on your wedding weekend.
What are some smaller wedding venues on Vancouver Island?
Long Beach Lodge currently specializes in intimate weddings of up to 30 guests, while Villa Eyrie advertises wedding packages for groups of up to 60. Other venues may also offer elopement or small-wedding packages, so it’s worth asking even if their main event space is larger.
What Vancouver Island wedding venues can accommodate 75 or more guests?
Beach Acres’ Ellis Room can accommodate up to 80 guests with theatre seating. Sea Cider advertises weddings of up to 120 guests, while Hatley Park has packages and spaces capable of accommodating larger celebrations, including options reaching 250 guests depending on the setup.Always confirm capacity for your specific ceremony and reception configuration, since standing, theatre and banquet capacities can be different.
Can wedding guests stay at Beach Acres Resort?
Yes. Guests can stay right at Beach Acres in beachfront, beachlevel, oceanview or partial oceanview accommodations, or in private forest cottages. That makes it easy to keep everyone together throughout the weekend rather than coordinating separate hotels and transportation after the wedding.
What wedding facilities does Beach Acres have?
The Ellis Room is Beach Acres’ primary indoor event space. It measures 26 by 40 feet and can accommodate up to 75 guests for banquet seating or 80 with theatre-style seating. The Groves Room is a smaller add-on space available with an Ellis Room rental. It holds up to 10 people and includes a kitchenette and soft seating. Food can be prepared there, but food service and consumption are limited to the Ellis Room, so the Groves Room works better as an additional preparation or support space than as a separate reception room.
Is Parksville a good alternative to Victoria or Tofino for a beach wedding?
It depends on the experience you want.Victoria offers historic architecture and formal gardens, while Tofino gives you the rugged scenery of Vancouver Island’s open Pacific coast. Parksville offers something a little more laid-back: long stretches of sandy beach, a sheltered east-coast setting and a central Island location.
At Beach Acres, you also have the benefit of keeping your wedding and accommodations together, so the celebration doesn’t have to fit into a single afternoon.
